About MASTER > FAQ
The workshops are appropriate for parents of children aged 5 to 11 years who want to help their child build skills in managing childhood challenges. Our workshops spotlight the skills of impulse and attention control, friendship, self-calming and coping with worry.
Yes. There are currently four workshops, each targeting a specific childhood challenge. Parents may choose to attend one or more workshops. In a comfortable small group setting parents will learn how to build their child’s skills for life and learning during everyday routines and activities. The aim of the workshops is to provide parents with a sense of increased skill, effectiveness, and confidence in their management of the typical challenges of childhood.
No. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to care for children during the workshops. The workshops are intended for parents only. To ensure participants benefit optimally from the workshops, parents who bring children will not be allowed to attend and will be issued a credit note, minus a $50 administration fee.
The workshops run for 3-4 hours inclusive of a short break. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided.
Currently our workshops are run monthly in Ashgrove, Brisbane. We intend to live-stream workshops to other cities and regional areas from May, 2015.
Just bring a willingness to participate. Pens, writing material, and workshop notes will be provided on the day. Each parent will be facilitated in generating take home action plans to support the use of their child’s skills in everyday routines and activities. At each workshop, parents will be provided with the relevant Ant Patrol® story.
Workshops are not covered as a Medicare rebated item. Participants are asked to contact their private health fund provider to enquire about possible rebates for this professional service. The psychology item code is P400. The speech pathology item code is S390.
Yes, families may use their HCWA Early Intervention funding to attend the workshop. The workshops are for no more than 8 families to allow participants to benefit from the specialised expertise of the presenters. Parents will receive guidance in personalising action plans that support skill building in the everyday home environment. Families interested in using the HCWA Early Intervention Funding will need to discuss this with their Early Intervention Service Provider prior to enrolling in the workshops.
We welcome referral letters but these are not required as we request key referral information in our enrolment process. Parents are required to enrol in the workshops online, via email or phone call. MASTER is committed to supporting collaboration between parents, schools and health professionals in fostering a child’s skills for life and learning. Parents will be provided with a short report outlining the goals and skills targeted in each workshop which can be shared with referring health professionals and schools. Parents are also provided with extra information for schools to support the carryover of skills into the school context.
Yes, if schools are interested we run school-based parent workshops for parent bodies. Please contact us for information on participant numbers and cost.

The resources are designed for children aged 5 to 11 years. We have received feedback from parents that younger children may engage with the resources because of the colourful and captivating ant characters and illustrations. When reading The Ant Patrol® Children’s Stories, adult readers may paraphrase the language for younger children to support the learning of skills.
The Ant Patrol® resources are appropriate for use with all children aged 5 – 11 years. The resources may be used to promote desired learning and social behaviours of children within this age range or complement supports for children with identified learning and social needs.
The Ant Patrol® resources are based on over 20 years of collective dedicated professional experience. Teachers and allied health professionals are likely to find The Ant Patrol® resources a useful adjunct to their professional work.
